The USDA Forest service has up to 7 upcoming opportunities here in Region 6 for current surveying students, under the pathways training program (1399 series). I am looking to widen the applicant pool by reaching out to program directors or professors at as many of the accredited programs as I can, in the in the hopes that you will be able to forward this on to the students and other interested persons to reach as many folks as we can. For the most part I pulled your contact info from your respective institutions website, trying to find contacts directly related to the schools surveying and geomatics programs. I plan to keep this contact list for future surveying job outreaches so if you feel there is a better contact person for these type of recruitment emails please advise and let me know who a better contact would be for your institution. Please forward this to your surveying students and as far and wide as you can!
There are also several positions for near or current graduates to consider, see the attached outreach response forms for more details and specific contact information on each position, please note that the outreach(s) are likely to be extended until the jobs are posted online, so if the expiration date is passed there may still be time to send one in and/or contact the hiring official listed. No outreach response is required to apply for the job once the official announcements are posted to USAJobs.gov, they are open to all.
*Please note that in the Outreach notice for the Pathways positions, the positions will be located on forests in Oregon also, not just the northern Washington forests. The duty stations are all listed, but because the Oregon forests are not listed at the beginning of the notice, it may confuse some folks. Other forests hiring include the Wallowa-Whitman, Willamette, Fremont/Winema and Deschutes among others, with duty stations in Bend, Springfield, Lakeview and Baker City, Oregon.
