Background: Hydrosphere Research is an environmental toxicity lab located in Alachua.
Requirements: You must be able to work well with others; have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; and effectively receive and follow instructions.
Previous experience with aquaculture or a relevant degree is a plus. Training will be provided. Candidates should email their resume to be considered for the job.
The position requires working 40 hours per week, which includes weekends.
We are looking for individuals with exceptional performance skills, such as: self-motivation, attention to detail, honesty, dependability, adaptability, and physical stamina. Due to the sensitive nature of our tests, smokers need not apply.
Duties: The candidate will be asked to perform aquatic toxicity testing of treated domestic waste water and industrial effluents.
Examples of specific tasks: using laboratory instrumentation, handling water samples, extensive documentation, project review, initiating and monitoring laboratory experiments, counting very small organisms, daily physical and chemical measurements (dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity, salinity, temperature).
Compensation: Starting pay $10/hour. Simple IRA, paid holidays and personal time & other benefits are available.
