Position: Internship – Environmental Education

Hours: Flexible: Flexible, Monday – Saturday, between 8AM and 4 PM (Some weekends & nights required based on program requirements), ~20-45 hours per week. Some weekends and nights required based on program requirements.
Salary: $8.75-$9.50 per hour (dependent upon qualifications, experience and certifications)
Dates: Summer 2018 (May – August)
Primary Function: Education Interns will be responsible for leading education tours and activities at the center for visiting school, home school, and camp groups. Interns will also work with staff during at least two of our seven weeks of outdoor summer camp, and will work in the field with other outdoor camps as necessary. Group tours occur Tuesday-Friday, in the morning and afternoon. During camp weeks, interns will work Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and will be paid overtime for any hours over 40. Other daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to, greeting guests, caring for aquatic life, assisting in species collection, participating in outreach events, coordinating and recruiting volunteers, leading children’s programs, and assisting with special events. Education Interns are also encouraged to create, implement, and evaluate their own interest program or project during their time at the River Center with the assistance of our Educators.
