As a premier wilderness tripping-based summer camp in the Northwoods of Wisconsin,Camp Manito-wish YMCA creates life-changing experiences for youth and teens. We are looking for driven individuals who are passionate about youth character development, collaborative leadership and who are ready to spend a summer immersed in a tight-knit community working together to give youth a Manito-wish experience.
Counselor/Trip Leader – lead 3-8 day wilderness trips and mentor campers in small cabin groups.
Tripping Co-Leader – co-lead wilderness trips for campers aged 10-15 years-old.
Program Area Instructor – lead fun and educational activities as instructors in the following areas: music, tennis, sailing, canoeing & kayaking, lifeguarding, arts and crafts, horseback riding, naturalist, riflery, archery, music, outdoor skills and trail biking.
Outpost Trip Leaders – lead 9-45 day canoeing, backpacking, or sea kayaking wilderness trips all over North America.
Leadership Facilitators – utilize a unique leadership progression sequence to lead groups of all ages through problem-solving activities and high and low ropes course elements.
Positions are available from June through September with various start and end dates. Benefits include a weekly salary, room and board, and complimentary Wilderness First Aid certification for counselors, tripping co-leaders, and leadership facilitators and discounts for Wilderness First Responder and other certifications. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and ideally have previous experience working with youth and being in a leadership role (additional age requirements and certifications are needed for specific positions). Confident, highly motivated, responsible, caring, adaptable, hard working, energetic individuals will thrive at Camp Manito-wish YMCA.
