This position is located with Aquatic Animal Health Research for the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Auburn, AL.
The goal of the research unit is the development of more effective means for control of viral, bacterial, and parasitic diseases of cultured fish and shellfish via a combination of biological, immunological, nutritional, and health management methods.The incumbent research emphasis will be in microbiology, virology, immunology, pathology, diagnostics, or vaccine development.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Attending Veterinarian on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee for the Aquatic Animal Health Research Unit and oversee fish welfare.
- Develops research program aimed at controlling and preventing fish disease.
- Conducts systematic research to determine microbial virulence factors, disease pathogenesis, immune responses.
- Performs systematic research for the development of in vitro and in vivo models, diagnostics and vaccines.
