The Center for Forested Watershed Research of the USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station (SRS-4353) is recruiting to fill a full-time Research Biologist position. This is a term position with an initial appointment of 2 years; extension of appointment up to a total of four years is possible. The position will be filled at the GS-12 level. The duty station is located in New Ellenton, SC. The position may focus on research considering the interactions of forest management and restoration systems with site productivity, carbon, nutrient and water cycles. The research program is developed in collaboration with Forest-Service Savannah River, whose mission is to support the management and policy objectives for the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site and to facilitate the National Environmental Research Park functions. The Savannah River Site provides exceptional opportunities for involvement in new and ongoing large-scale field experiments, and National Laboratory and university collaborators.
NOTE: Degrees in Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Marine Biology, and Microbiology are NOT qualifying as a substitution of education for experience for this position. The education must have had a focus on forest ecology/biology, vegetation management.
