Program Intern, Rethink Outside
Blue Sky Funders Forum
Position Description: The Blue Sky Funders Forum seeks a program intern to support the network’s collaborative narrative-change initiative, Rethink Outside. The intern will engage funders, nonprofit leaders and practitioners, educators, researchers and other stakeholders in the environmental education / outdoors field and in allied fields through Rethink Outside outreach and communication efforts. In addition, the intern will support virtual event planning and assist with monitoring and evaluation efforts for Rethink Outside. The intern will report to the Blue Sky Funders Forum Program Manager, based in Oakland, CA.
Desired start date: June 22, 2020 (flexible)
Hours: 10-20 hours per week (8-12 weeks)
Compensation: $20 per hour
Duties: Program Implementation & Monitoring • Monitor and assess progress on the Rethink Outside campaign and use of the narrative in the field through stakeholder outreach • Identify new partners and stories that exemplify implementation of the Rethink Outside narrative
- Communications • Develop Rethink Outside content for Blue Sky social media accounts (Twitter, LinkedIn) and Rethink Outside e-newsletter • Assist with Rethink Outside website administration
- Events • Assist in planning, conducting, and tracking engagement in quarterly Rethink Outside webinars • Support outreach and promotion for Fall 2020 Rethink Outside storytelling workshops
Desired qualifications: • Recently completed or currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree • Coursework or experience in environmental studies, social sciences, education, communications, or a related field • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with and engage a range of stakeholders • Strong research, writing, and editing skills • Familiarity and experience with social media platforms, Google suite, Microsoft Office suite, WordPress • Effective follow-through and ability to meet deadlines • Meticulous and detail-oriented • Ability to work independently • Reliable access to personal computer, internet, and phone service
