Technology Requirements

The Project Learning Tree 4H Online training uses a software program called Articulate.  To ensure you can view the Training correctly, follow these four easy steps:

          

1. You will need a Flash player, which most computers already have. If you do not have a flash player you can download one at http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer//.

2. If you are using Windows Internet Explorer click the yellow box labeled  “Agree to Install Now” and follow the instructions on the screen.  If you are using a different operating system, choose the different operating system or browser link below and follow the instructions. 

3. You will need to enable pop ups. You have two options.
A. Search your computer for any software with "pop-up" in the name. Disable it or set the Places We Live Online Training as an allowed site. Examples of popular pop-up blocking applications include: Pop-Up Stopper, Pop-Up Defender, and Pop-Up Zapper.
B. Pop-up blocking is included in some web browsers, and in some anti-virus, firewall, and security programs. Disable the relevant setting in the program or set Places We Live Online Training as an allowed site.
Examples of programs that include pop-up blocking functions include the following. Click the links to read configuration information.
        * Norton Internet Security
        * Yahoo! Toolbar
        * MSN Toolbar
        * AOL 8.0 and later
        * Microsoft Windows XP, Service Pack 2
        * Mozilla/Netscape
Note: If your program is not listed here, refer to the Help section in your program.

3. Turn on your speakers or plug in head phones and adjust the volume level. If you do not have speakers or headphones you can print a pdf of the script to follow along.  Step 4 explains the softwar requirements for downloading pdfs and the Getting Started Instructions will explain how to print attachments like the script. 

4. Finally, you will need Adobe Reader to view all pdfs. Most computers also come with this software, but if not, it can be downloaded for *free* from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
