Tall Timbers and the University of Georgia have a long and continuing legacy of cooperative research focused on understanding the ecology and management of natural resources, including bobwhite quail, on private lands. Sustainable management of private lands must include an economic perspective. This research effort between Tall Timbers and UGA will begin to assess the economic trade-offs associated with different types of land management. As part of their MS degree program, the student will be expected to work closely with private landowners, state agency staff, and technical experts from Tall Timbers and UGA. An expected outcome of this collaborative research effort is the development of guidelines that highlight tradeoffs resulting from different land management decisions in economic and ecological terms with a focus on quail management. This is critical because landowners often seek answers on what to expect in costs and outcomes associated with different land management choices. Applications will be considered as they are received, and will not be considered after October 5, 2020.
