The Office of Law Enforcement (OLE) mission is to protect wildlife resources by investigating wildlife crimes, regulating wildlife trade and helping others understand and comply with protection laws.
Organizationally, the work of the law enforcement program requires the assignment of administrative, legal and professional work carried out at various field stations and regional offices throughout the U.S. Regional office and field locations include a Special Agent in Charge (SAC) who oversees several field stations, led by a Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC), Resident Agent in Charge (RAC), some of which oversee Special Agents (SA) and Wildlife Inspectors (WI) and support staff.
The Law Enforcement Support Assistant (LESA) provides administrative, clerical and technical support to the ASAC, RAC and SA’s.
- Provides overall organization and management of the administrative processes of the office
- Assists staff to ensure budget tracking is accurate, maintaining office property records, inventory and procuring office supplies
- Produces and or copies investigative information/reports and enters information in the Law Enforcement Management Information System (LEMIS)
- Performs extensive quality control audits and reviews of investigative documents and reports to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
- Serves as point of contact for all personnel payroll, timekeeper, and travel matters.

To qualify for the GS-07 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal Service. You must have direct and/or related experience in ALL of the examples listed below to meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Examples of such experience:maintaining office records; compiling investigative information/reports; utilizing office automation systems; preparing legal documents; maintaining files and information; processing travel related actions; communicating effectively with a variety of personnel.
To qualify for the GS-08 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. You must have direct and/or related experience in ALL of the examples listed below to meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Examples of such experience: reviewing budget and financial data reports; tracking expenditures and obligations and entering them enter data tracking system; maintaining office records; compiling investigative information/reports; utilizing office automation systems; preparing legal documents; maintaining files and information; processing travel related actions; communicating effectively with a variety of personnel.
