The Town of Nantucket seeks a Hatchery Technician to perform technical shellfish hatchery operations and routine hatchery equipment service and maintenance. The Technician also assists with monitoring shellfish culture systems, periodic field sampling, and development of standard operating procedures related to building maintenance.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in biology, marine science or aquaculture with a preference to programs with an emphasis in shellfish or aquaculture; minimum of five years of experience related to the field of commercial or research shellfish culture, hatchery management, hatchery system development; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Massachusetts Class D motor vehicle operator’s license, or ability to obtain one necessary. Must be a certified SCUBA diver or willing to become SCUBA Certified.
Starting hourly rate $29.40; full benefits; Union position
