Graduate Research Assistantship Position Available in the Department of Forestry at Mississippi State University
The Silviculture Lab in the Department of Forestry at Mississippi State University is seeking applicants for a funded M.S. assistantship. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Adam Polinko on research topics broadly focused in silviculture and/or stand dynamics.
Candidates that are creative, independent and passionate about silviculture, forestry or ecology are encouraged to apply. The position will likely involve long days in the field as well as behind a computer. Master’s Assistantships are 2-year positions and include stipend ($15,000 annually), tuition waiver and insurance. The start date of the position is Fall 2021.
Required qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in forestry, biology, ecology, natural resource management or related field
- Ability to meet all admissions requirements to the Department of Forestry M.S. program
- Demonstrated excellence in English (written and oral) communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred qualifications:
- Enthusiasm for problem solving and data analysis.
- Interest or experience in programming languages such as R and/or python.
