A fully funded graduate research assistantship is available for a Master of Science (MS) student in the Louisiana Forest Products Development Center, School of Renewable Natural Resources, Louisiana State University (LSU) to start spring 2018.
The successful candidate will be involved in a cutting-edge project in the field of forest products marketing/business development with a focus on evaluation of market potential for Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) and Massive Plywood Panels (MPP) in the Southern United States using Southern Yellow Pine.
Specifically, the candidate will investigate awareness, willingness-to-participate, and markets for CLT and MPP from the perspectives of manufacturers, architects, builders, and building code policy makers and other influencers/stakeholders. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Richard Vlosky, Director, Louisiana Forest Products Development Center.
The successful candidate will be funded during the 2-year study period with a 20 hour/week assistantship, paid tuition, fees and insurance. The candidate must:
- Previously attained a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale basis.
- Have a GRE score of 1000+
- Have an exceptional command of written and spoken English at the level of native speakers as this study involves stakeholder interactions, meetings, and conference presentations.
- Preferred: Coursework or experience in wood technology, wood engineering, architecture, or allied field. Experience in market research is a plus.
