Background: Opening for a crew member with Fire Effects Crew at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The crews participates in prescribed burns, gets called on wildfires, and performs fire ecology studies for burned and unburned areas. They are also doing a special project this year on drought mortality in park, so they will be working with forest health and measurements all season. If the interested party does NOT currently have a Red Card (FFT2) management can help that individual obtain that once they arrive.
Location: Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks
Job Requirements:
- Previous Experience in Field work (ecology, forestry, botany, etc…)
- Ability to work long hours
- Ability to hike long distances
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors, in inclement weather
- Interest in Fire Management and Ecology
- Familiarity with forestry tools and measurements
- Willingness to camp for work
- 3 hours per week of physical training
Salary: Pay is based on experience
Schedule: Will work a minimum of 40 hours per week (Mon-Thurs). Some weekend work and overtime may be required
