| Francisco J. Escobedo
is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist at the School of Forest Resources and Conservation since July 2006. His research and extension work focuses on urban and community forest management and planning, the ecosystem services of urban and urbanizing forests, and the effects of urbanization and other disturbances such as hurricanes and invasive woody plants on forests and human settlements. He also teaches courses in urban forestry.

Experience:
From 1994-99 he worked for the USDA Forest Service in soil and watershed management and participated in several fire effects related projects in the western United States and northern Mexico. From 1999-2003 he worked for the USDA Forest Service, Northeastern Research Station in urban forestry, air quality, and policy analysis in New York and Central Chile. Prior to coming to the University of Florida he was working in the areas of wildland- urban interface planning, fuels management, and forestry best management practices in southern California and Colorado’s Front Range.
