Grenville Barnes joined the faculty of the University of Florida in 1993.  His specialties within Geomatics include Cadastral systems and Land Tenure administration. At present, Barney is an Associate Professor in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation and is also an affiliate faculty member in the Center for African Studies and the Center for Latin American Studies. Barney has worked on various research projects in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Barbados, Belize, Dominican Republic,  Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa , Albania, Moldova and Kyrgyzstan.
