The incumbent serves as Director of the National Seed Laboratory and as an expert consultant on seed production, seed collection, seed cleaning, seed improvement, seed storage, seed germination protocol development, and seed testing for forest regeneration programs throughout the United States. This position provides leadership in the planning, budgeting and technical assistance of forest tree seed programs. These programs include technical assistance to state forestry agencies, federal agencies, and large and small industrial forest companies in the area of seed collection, conditioning, testing, and storage.
