Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) invites applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, a nine-month tenure-track position. Teaching excellence is a fundamental goal of the environmental science program and the university, and the incumbent will be expected to develop a rigorous environmental science teaching program. Teaching responsibilities will depend on the incumbent’s expertise, interests, and the needs of the program. Possible undergraduate courses are: Wetland Delineation and Functional Assessment, an on-line version of Introduction to Environmental Science, and the senior capstone course Environmental Assessment and Management. Possible graduate courses are: Ecotoxicology, Human Health and the Environment, Environmental Policy and Regulation, Environmental Risk Assessment, and Graduate Seminar.
The incumbent will also develop a successful externally funded research program in his or her area of expertise and recruit and supervise graduate students engaged in research. The environmental science program also seeks to engage more undergraduate students in research, and the incumbent will be encouraged to assist in this goal.
To be considered for the position, applicants must have a Ph.D. in Environmental Science or closely related field and a strong interest in conducting high quality interdisciplinary teaching and research, and service to the university and the community.
