We seek a Cooperative Extension advisor for forestry/fire science and natural resources who will conduct a locallybased extension, education and applied research program to address high priority issues with a focus on forest fuels accumulation that has increased high-severity wildfires that threaten forests and communities; promoting community wildfire resilience and sustainable forest management on both private and public land.
- The advisor will:
develop an applied research program, evaluate programs, and report accomplishments, results, impacts to scientific and lay audiences;
- facilitate interactions and information exchange among campus based academics, CE advisors and community stakeholders;
- develop partnerships and leverage resources to support the sustainability of the natural environments;
- complement UC ANR’s Strategic Vision, optimizing opportunities that meet the needs of Californians.
This position is an academic career-track appointment; a minimum of a master’s degree is required, though other advanced degrees are encouraged, in forestry/fire science, wildfire ecology, wood and fiber science or other closely related fields. Incumbent is required to become a California Registered Professional Forester within six years of date of hire.
