On Tuesday, March 4, 2008 members of SAFE and the Kobziar Fire Science Lab brought fire science to the Reitz Union colonnade. Members, joined by Smokey Bear, shared information about the importance of prescribed fire in Florida for restoring and maintaining healthy ecosystems and reducing the potential for dangerous wildfires. Members also distributed fliers and bumper stickers and signed up fellow students who were interested in participating in a prescribed fire on campus at the natural areas training lab (NATL) sometime this spring. |
